Qualifications

• 0-2 years of phlebotomy experience required

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection (finger and heel sticks) per policy to ensure accurate specimen collection.
• Ensures positive patient identification using two identifiers and bedside labeling to prevent errors.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens while maintaining sample integrity and safety.
• Explains procedures to patients, providing reassurance and addressing concerns for a positive experience.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace per infection control standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information accurately in the lab system per regulatory requirements.
• Collects timed specimens as ordered and prioritizes tasks to meet clinical needs.
• Identifies and resolves specimen issues, including recollections when necessary.
• Collaborates with healthcare team to clarify orders and communicate specimen status.
• Follows safety requirements and laboratory procedures to ensure compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
