Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Phlebotomist for the University Hospital - UMC in Louisville, KY. The role is part-time/PRN with evening hours (7:00 PM to 5:30 AM) and involves blood collection, specimen processing, and related clerical duties.

Responsibilities include ensuring specimen integrity, timely transport to the lab, and adhering to Infection Control and HIPAA requirements while providing courteous patient service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification required.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Completion of certified phlebotomy program or phlebotomy externship/1 year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures accurately and within established turn-around times.
• Transports specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Answers phone calls and provides information in a courteous and professional manner
• Monitors specimen integrity and documents for medical necessity.
• Follows safety standards dictated by the laboratory, hospital and regulatory agencies.
• Participates in continuing education for professional development.
• Performs AIDET and interacts professionally with patients, staff and others.
