Qualifications

• Licensure from an accredited school of phlebotomy recommended.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects specimens as ordered.
• Maintains documentation per QA program including accessioning logs and equipment records.
• Maintains adequate inventory and ensures supplies are viable before use.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not done in-house.
• Processes in-house and incoming lab orders and reports.
• Updates daily paperwork, lab logs and maintenance logs.
• Properly identifies and bands patients for blood transfusion; handles labeled specimens per policy.
• Operates designated laboratory equipment and performs waived lab testing under CLIA guidelines.
