HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL is seeking a Phlebotomist (PRN) to perform specimen collection and processing under supervision. The role includes venipunctures and finger sticks across age groups, accurate labeling, LIS data entry, and patient education.

This position supports department goals in quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. Responsibilities include specimen handling, documentation, and coordination with referral labs, while adhering to procedures and regulatory

Qualifications

• Ability to interact with coworkers in a team environment.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service practices in all interactions.
• Effectively communicate with all personnel to exchange accurate and timely technical information.
• May assist in communication to customers, floors, physicians regarding problem and/or pending specimens.
• Requires 2+ years experience performing registration, clerical duties, and sending out of specimen processing.
• Protects sensitive and confidential information by actively participating in Privacy & Security Awareness.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens and ensure proper identification and labeling.
• Perform venipunctures and/or finger sticks across pediatric, neonatal, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Process and prepare specimens for testing and referral laboratories.
• Document specimen collection in the LIS and maintain records.
• Educate patients and families on collection procedures.
• Maintain specimen quality and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Assist with clerical duties (phones, faxing, pneumatic tube, reports).
• Review OSR and pending specimen issues and take appropriate action.
