Job summary

Avenue 360 is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to manage and streamline pharmacy workflow while dispensing medications and delivering superior customer service. You will provide drug information and help patients understand their doctors’ instructions.

You will supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure safe, compliant operations. Responsibilities include prescription intake and verification, patient counseling, DURs, prior authorization support, and advising on drug interactions, with a focus on safety

Qualifications

• Standard pharmacist duties include prescription intake, verification and patient counseling.
• Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
• Ability to advise on selection, dosages, interactions and side effects of medications.
• Performs drug utilization reviews and documents interventions.
• Prior authorization management with the pre-approval process for filling prescriptions to ensure insurance coverage.

Responsibilities

• Comply with agency policies and procedures as well as program-specific procedures and protocols.

• Evaluate appropriateness of prescription orders with patient safety and legal requirements in mind.

• Monitor health and progress of patients in response to drug therapy.
• Advise patients and answer questions about prescription drugs, possible side effects and interactions.
• Provide information and make recommendations about over-the-counter drugs.
• Give advice about diet, exercise, or stress management.
• Advise patients about durable medical equipment and home healthcare supplies.
• Manage workflow and supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance with standards of care.

About the role

The Staff Pharmacist manages and maintains workflow efficiency. Additionally, the Staff Pharmacist dispenses prescription drugs to patients while delivering superior customer service. They provide information about those drugs and help patients understand the instructions their doctors or other health practitioners provided. The Staff Pharmacist provides supervision to pharmacy technicians.

• Manage workflow process and supervise pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance with all standards of care to include data entry and preparation of medications and work plans.
• Demonstrate ability to set priorities and work cooperatively with others within and outside the department.

• Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
• Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
• Knowledge of policies and regulationspertaining tothe disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
