Job summary

Akumin in Asheville, NC is seeking a PET/CT Technologist to join our outpatient imaging team. The role focuses on producing high-quality PET/CT images, ensuring patient safety, pre-screening for contraindications, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

You will communicate with patients and radiologists, train junior technologists, and troubleshoot imaging equipment across multiple sites. Requirements include NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification, CPR, state license if required, and 1-2 years

Qualifications

• Certification in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent ARRT/NMTCB required.
• CPR certification and active state licensure as applicable.
• 1-2 years of Nuclear Medicine or PET/CT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality diagnostic PET/CT images for interpretation.
• Pre-screen patients for contraindications and ensure radiation safety.
• Explain procedures and communicate with patients and radiologists.
• Train new technologists and PCs on workflows and safety.
• Troubleshoot scanner and peripheral equipment as needed.

And, because our techs work in a variety of environments—a freestanding outpatient center, a mobile coach, or a hospital-based/inpatient facility—their flexibility allows them to deliver the absolute best imaging care at any access point.Specific duties include, but are not limited to:Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, etc. and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with radioactive materials/patients.Produces high quality diagnostic imagesEffectively communicates with customers and/or radiologistsTrains new technologists and/or PC'sTrouble-shoots the scanner, coach and peripheral equipment (including: monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).Position Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent ExperienceCertification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N)State license, as required.CPR certificationAs applicable, valid state driver’s license.Ability to work at several locationsStrong customer service skills.Organizational and multi-tasking skills.Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.Preferred:Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.At Akumin, we invest in the well-being of our employees, so you can bring your best self to work each day.
