Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital is seeking a PRN Outpatient Occupational Therapist. Workdays include Days with a schedule of 8:00am-5:00pm or 9:30am-6:30pm in Euclid, OH, at Euclid Hospital's Occupational Therapy department.

The role involves providing broad OT services to help patients regain independence in daily activities. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy, an OT license for Ohio, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross for Healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establishes, revises, and evaluates a plan of care involving patient/family according to capabilities and desires.
  • Performs therapy interventions using standard occupational therapy techniques and skills for the patient.
  • Supervises activities of occupational therapist assistants, students, and other support personnel.
  • Maintains complete and up-to-date documentation and files regarding patient condition and care interventions.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary assessment and, when necessary, is a member of the hospice interdisciplinary team.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide wide-ranging services to help patients regain their ability to perform normal activities, self-care and responsibilities. In this role, you will focus on maximizing their treatment outcomes and assisting them in relearning necessary skills to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) shifts. Must have availability Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establishes, revises, and evaluates a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard occupational therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
  • Supervises activities of occupational therapist assistants, students, and other support personnel.
  • Always maintains complete and up-to-date documentation and files regarding patient condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and interventions.
  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary assessment of assigned patients. Participates as a member of the hospice interdisciplinary team when necessary.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross for Healthcare providers

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in a clinical area
  • Neuro/Ortho experience
  • Lymphedema experience
  • Hand experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load to support patient from falling.
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
