Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System in Ohio is seeking an Occupational Therapist - Lymphedema Therapist, Part-Time, at Fairview Wellness Center in Rocky River. You will provide OT services to help patients regain independence in daily living and self-care, with focus on lymphedema care, using evidence-based treatment and adaptive equipment.

You will work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:00am-4:30pm or 9:30am-6:00pm, with a supportive team and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in OT required.
• Graduate of OT program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
• Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients to regain independence in daily living.
• Assess patients’ ability to perform independent living skills safely.
• Design and implement the plan of care with appropriate modalities.
• Document patient progress and adjust plan of care as needed.
• Educate patients and families about deficits and adaptive equipment.
• Oversee support staff per licensing laws and OT standards.

A caregiver in this position worksMonday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00am to 4:30pm or 9:30am to 6:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional,cognitiveand/or psychosocial deficits whichimpacttheir abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
• Assesspatient'sability tosafely and effectively perform independent living skills.
• Design theappropriate planof care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implement the treatment plan usingappropriate modalities.
• Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
• Monitor andmodifythe plan of care as needed.
• Seekconsultationas necessary.
• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Plan and/orassistwith patient discharge from therapy services and treatmentsetting.
• Provide information regardingappropriate selection/useof adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, stateregulationsand OT practice standards.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor’sDegree
• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)orthe American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Experience in a clinical area

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
• Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
• Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
• Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
• Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
• Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
• Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
