PRN Occupational Therapist/ Hand Therapist

Job Description

Occupational Therapist Position Overview: Under the direction of the Therapy Manager, the Hand Therapist is responsible for delivering quality hand therapy services in accordance with the patient’s plan of care for outpatients with hand therapy needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform and document initial exams, evaluate data, identify problems, and determine therapy diagnosis. Review physician's referral and patient's medical records.
  • Provide information on adaptive equipment and support programs. Help restore physical function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and enhance performance of activities.
  • Obtain informed consent from patients for interventions.
  • Perform manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, patient education, orthotic fabrication, and wound care services.
  • Set and document goals, progress, and plans for reevaluation.
  • Evaluate treatment effects, adjust treatments for maximum benefit.
  • Record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or electronically.
  • Discharge patients upon goal attainment and coordinate follow-up care or referrals.
  • Instruct patients and families on ongoing treatment procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of PHI per policies and laws (OHSA, HIPAA).
  • Follow all safety practices.
  • Collaborate as a team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Manage a full case load, including complex post-operative patients.
  • Proficient in hand, wrist, shoulder, and elbow anatomy.
  • Skilled in orthotic fabrication, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, wound care, and modalities for the upper extremity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary & Benefits

$35-50 per hour. Benefits include internal training, Monday–Friday schedule, close collaboration with surgeons, a supportive team environment, continuing education options, 1:1 patient care, therapy aides, and scheduled documentation time.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an approved Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current NBCOT registration.
  • State licensure from Colorado DORA.
  • Current BLS certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to use a computer for documentation.
  • Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CHT certification.
  • 3+ years hand therapy experience.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
Working Conditions
  • Typical clinical environment.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Frequent standing, typing, and reading.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
