PRN Occupational Therapist/ Hand Therapist

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Therapy Manager, the Hand Therapist is responsible for delivering quality hand therapy services to outpatients in accordance with the patient’s plan of care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document initial exams, evaluate data, and determine therapy diagnosis based on physician referrals and medical records.
  • Provide education on adaptive equipment, support programs, and help restore physical function, mobility, and reduce pain.
  • Obtain informed consent and perform manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, orthotic fabrication, and wound care.
  • Set and document goals, evaluate treatment effects, and adjust as needed.
  • Record treatment details and patient progress, and discharge patients upon goal attainment with appropriate follow-up.
  • Instruct patients and families on continued care at home.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety practices.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, managing a full case load with complex post-operative patients.
  • Proficient understanding of hand, wrist, shoulder, and elbow anatomy; skilled in orthotic fabrication, manual therapy, and modalities for the upper extremity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary & Benefits

$35-50 per hour, with opportunities for training, Monday-Friday schedule, collaborative environment with multiple surgeons, continuing education options, one-on-one patient care, and scheduled documentation time.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current NBCOT registration and Colorado DORA licensure.
  • Current BLS certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Strong communication skills and computer proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CHT certification and >3 years hand therapy experience.
  • Experience with EMR systems.
Working Conditions
  • Clinical environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Frequent standing, typing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
