Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a PRN Nursing Assistant I/II at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC. You will provide compassionate, hands-on care, support daily living activities, monitor patients, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in a home-like inpatient hospice setting.

Shifts are 12 hours (day/night) as needed, with 1 shift per week preferred. Experience in hospice or nursing assistant roles is appreciated, and required trainings will be provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of Level I Nurse Aide education program approved by the NC Board of Nursing.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience is preferred.
• Hospice experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures.
• Participate in own professional development by maintaining required training.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
• Clean assigned area; stock and replenish supplies and equipment.
• Collect, deliver and conduct routine tests on patient specimens.
• Obtain and record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN.
• Assist with blood glucose testing and patient admissions, discharges, transports.
• Assist physician and nurses with examinations and ambulation as needed.
• Provide personal care including feeding, bathing, dressing and grooming.
• Support teaching activities and position patients; report changes in condition.
• Turn, position and provide water; ensure safety and comfort.
