University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner to deliver patient care at the Wellness Center on campus. The role requires a Master’s degree in nursing, Colorado APRN licensure, and national NP certification with prescriptive authority.

This on-site, part-time position serves a student‑focused health environment with a collaborative team. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, performing histories and exams, triaging urgent cases, and coordinating care

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing is required.
• Specialty certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner from a national certification agency is required.
• Current Colorado licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse prior to start date is required.
• Prescriptive authority or provisional authority is required prior to start date.
• Highly qualified applicants will have experience working with college aged population.
• Experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides health care to patients at the UCCS Wellness Center per NP scope and clinic protocols.
• Assists medical director and executive director with other duties as assigned.
• Triage and treat adolescent to adult patients with varied health needs.
• Complete histories, assessments, and physical exams with proper documentation in medical records.
• Differentiate acute vs non‑acute care needs and respond appropriately.
• Collaborate with campus departments and Wellness Center staff to coordinate patient care.

Pay Range

$ 43.94 - $56.69 hourly. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Non‑Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

Responsible for providing health care to patients of the UCCS Wellness Center as directed by nurse practitioner scope of practice and clinic protocols. Assists medical director and executive director with other duties as assigned. As needed, Nurse Practitioner in a student‑based Wellness Center that treats patients from a variety of age groups with a variety of health needs.

Essential Functions

• Position evaluates and treats a wide variety of adolescent/adult patients with a variety of health care needs.
• Completes histories, thorough assessments, and physical examinations on all patients with appropriate documentation reflected in medical records.
• Able to differentiate patient care situations which require acute and non‑acute action and responds accordingly.
• Triages walk‑in urgent health care situations and coordinates with emergency medical responders for safe transport to local emergency rooms if deemed necessary.
• Ability to effectively document exam findings in a timely manner.
• Refers patients requiring care that is beyond the scope of the Nurse Practitioner’s practice to the Medical Director or other appropriate provider.
• Works with medical assistant to contact patients requiring follow up care and documents accordingly.
• Position must work collaboratively with a variety of campus constituents to include but not limited to staff in the following departments: Office of Residence Life and Housin: Public Safety: Recreation: Intercollegiate Athetics, Student Life and Leadership, Office of Institutional Equity, Disability Services and the Offfice of the Deans of Students.
• Position must work collaboratively with employees in the Wellness Center.
