University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner for the Wellness Center. The role involves delivering health care to students and staff, under nursing practice protocols, and collaborating with the Medical Director and campus partners.

This is a PRN on-site position based in Colorado Springs, CO. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in nursing, be certified as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner, and hold Colorado APN licensure with prescriptive

Pay Range

$ 43.94 - $56.69 hourly . Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

Responsible for providing health care to patients of the UCCSWellness Center as directed by nurse practitioner scope of practiceand clinic protocols. Assists medical director and executive director with other duties as assigned. As needed, Nurse Practitioner in a student-based Wellness Center that treats patients from a variety of age groups with a variety of health needs.

Essential Functions
  • Position evaluates and treats a wide variety of adolescent/adult patients with a variety of health care needs.
  • Completes histories, thorough assessments, and physicalexaminations on all patients with appropriate documentationreflected in medical records.
  • Able to differentiate patient care situations which requireacute and non-acute action and responds accordingly.
  • Triages walk-in urgent health care situations and coordinateswith emergency medical responders for safe transport to localemergency rooms if deemed necessary.
  • Ability to effectively document exam findings in a timelymanner.
  • Refers patients requiring care that is beyond the scope of theNurse Practitioner's practice to the Medical Director or otherappropriate provider.
  • Works with medical assistant to contact patients requiringfollow up care and documents accordingly.
  • Position must work collaboratively with a variety of campusconstituents to include but not limited to staff in the followingdepartments: Office of Residence Life and Housing: Public Safety: Recreation: Intercollegiate Athletics, Student Life and Leadership, Office of Institutional Equity, Disability Services and the Offficeof the Deans of Students.
  • Position must work collaboratively with employees in the Wellness Center.

Qualifications
  • A master's degree in nursing is required.
  • Specialty certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner from a national certification agency is required.
  • To qualify applicants must have a current Colorado licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse prior to start date.
  • Prescriptive authority or provisional authority is required prior to start date.
  • Highly qualified applicants will have experience working with college aged population
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred
