Job summary

HCA Florida West Hospital invites applications for a Nurse Extern PRN position. You will participate in patient care alongside the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience and exploring the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care.

You will assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, wound care, specimen collection, and basic procedures as you progress through your nursing program.

Qualifications

• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree required

Responsibilities

• Providing essential patient care including ADLs, vital signs, mobility support and comfort
• Performing nursing tasks such as wound and catheter care, specimen collection and basic procedures
• Documenting care accurately and communicating updates with the nursing team
• Helping patients and families understand care plans and health guidance
• Maintaining clean and safe patient areas following infection prevention practices
• Engaging in learning opportunities and building a personal career development plan with supervisor
