Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Medical Technologist I for a PRN, variable shift position in Alaska. The role involves performing moderate to high complexity tests on blood and body fluids, maintaining quality control, and troubleshooting instruments to ensure accurate results.

The Tech may teach new staff and students, performs phlebotomy as needed, and collaborates with healthcare teams to support patient care and regulatory compliance. Flexible scheduling is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or closely related field is required.
• Passing score on CLT Proficiency exam or equivalent critea required.
• 0–2 years of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity tests with accurate reporting and documentation.
• Follows quality control procedures and performs corrective actions as needed.
• Conducts instrument function checks and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Ensures safety compliance and uses PPE according to lab policies.
• Communicates results and issues to team and supervisors.
• Assists with proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation.
