Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection following policies to ensure accurate specimen collection.
• Ensures correct patient identification using two identifiers and proper labeling at the bedside.
• Prepares, packages and transports specimens while maintaining sample integrity and safety.
• Explains procedures to patients to provide reassurance and ease concerns.
• Cleans and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace per infection control standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information accurately in the laboratory system.
