Job summary

SEARHC, serving Southeast Alaska, seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform phlebotomy across age groups and manage specimen processing, QC, and administrative lab duties. The role supports accreditation and regulatory compliance and contributes to high-quality lab services for internal and external customers.

With a focus on accuracy and patient confidentiality, you will handle inventory, training, and routine laboratory operations in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree in a medical field preferred.
• No experience required with degree.
• Clinical Competency within 3 months of hire and every three years.
• 2 years' experience in medical setting.
• Successful completion of a 2-week in-house laboratory training program post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy on all age groups and handles specimen processing steps (labeling, centrifugation, testing, storage, sending to reference lab).
• Maintains equipment and QC per guidelines; conducts daily QA reviews to ensure compliance.
• Performs administrative lab duties: maintaining records, coding, and training nursing staff per guidelines.
• Inventories and orders departmental supplies to ensure uninterrupted lab operation.
• Other duties as assigned.
