Job summary

Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, FL is seeking a PRN Medical Technologist (MLS) to support our Laboratory team. You will perform diverse lab tests, ensure accuracy, and maintain instruments while adhering to regulatory standards.

The role offers flexible scheduling, opportunities for shift differentials, and a collaborative environment with physicians and nurses. Florida licensure is required or in good standing with eligibility for licensure.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Florida Medical Technologist License required.
• ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification preferred.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, microbiology, blood bank, and urinalysis.
• Analyze and verify patient test results for accuracy and reliability.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments.
• Perform and document quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Identify abnormal results and promptly communicate critical values per policy.
• Collect, process, and handle patient specimens.
• Follow laboratory safety, infection prevention, and biohazard protocols.
• Maintain LIS documentation and assist with inventory.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, AHCA, OSHA, and state/federal regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and team members.
