Job summary

Baptist Health Georgetown is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for PRN Third Shift. The role supports operations in the Georgetown, KY laboratory, performing testing and maintaining quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include evaluating procedures, communicating specimen requirements, and solving instrument and test-order issues, with emphasis on accuracy and teamwork in Lab I Georgetown.

Qualifications

• Associatea0s degree required.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies.
• Clinical Laboratory Science Certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Maintains technical competency as related to the job functions.
• Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may adversely affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
• Assesses job functions and takes appropriate action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, registration and takes appropriate action.
• Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Uses complex problem-solving skills to resolve clinical and instrument problems.

Education

Associate’s degree

Certification eligible in clinical laboratory science

Clinical Laboratory Science Certification within 1 year
