MU Health Care is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a PRN shift in the Capital Region Medical Center labs. The role requires performing diverse lab tests and maintaining high-quality standards to support patient care.

The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, apply critical thinking, and participate in training staff while upholding safety and regulatory guidelines.

Formación

• ASCP MLT certification required or equivalent (AMT, AAB) and active status.

Responsabilidades

• Perform chemical, bacteriological, serological, or microscopic laboratory test procedures on specimens in one laboratory section.
• Perform quality control to ensure proper functioning of instrumentation reagents, and procedures.
• Recognize instrument malfunctions and abnormal test results and take corrective action.
• Calibrate, standardize, and maintain instruments following established procedures. Prepare reagents, standards, and controls according to prescribed procedures.
• Validate, review, and report results of tests performed.
• Assist in training students and new staff members in laboratory tests and procedures.
• Perform tests requiring routine and/or complex instrumentation such as optical, photometric, fluorometric, electronic, automated, and scintillation.
• Research and develop new medical laboratory procedures as assigned.
• Dispose of or properly handle biological, radioactive, and/or hazardous waste in a manner that is consistent with laboratory, university, state, and federal government policy.
• Participate in the ordering activities for supplies, materials, and equipment as needed. Perform related work as assigned.
• May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
