Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med/Surg at Allen Hospital in Ohio. This PRN position requires providing high-quality nursing care within a multidisciplinary team, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

The RN will collaborate with various disciplines, administer medications safely, and support discharge planning while upholding Mercy Health values of compassion and service. A BSN and active RN license in the state or compact is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact.
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS acceptable in lieu of BLS).
• Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification RN-BC (preferred).
• CCRN, PCCN, CMSRN, NIH Stroke Certification (preferred).
• One year of RN experience (required).
• Six months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred).
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish goals and strategies for discharge or continuing care with the patient.
• Perform and document complete patient assessments and maintain current nursing care plans.
• Identify patient learning needs and provide individualized teaching.
• Safely administer medications and follow hospital policies.
• Coordinate patient care across hospital departments and advocate for patient safety.
• Participate in quality improvement and collaborate with spiritual, palliative care and ethics teams.
