McKenney Home Care is a family-owned private-duty home care agency serving Sarasota and Charlotte County, Florida. We are seeking Florida-licensed LPNs and RNs for PRN nursing opportunities in clients’ homes, offering one-on-one care with strong office and nursing team support.

Ideal candidates enjoy independent work, flexible scheduling based on client needs, and collaboration with a dedicated nursing staff. PRN roles accommodate varied shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Active Florida LPN or RN license in good standing.
• Home care/private duty/hospice or related nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a private home setting.
• TB test, PPD, or lab screening within required timeframe, or qualifying chest X-ray.
• Eligibility for Level 2 AHCA background screening, or willingness to complete the required screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care in the client’s home according to the established plan of care.
• Assess and monitor client condition.
• Report changes, concerns, or significant findings promptly.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Support clients with chronic conditions, post-hospital needs, and ongoing nursing needs.
• Provide client and family education related to care and safety.
• Communicate with physicians, families, and members of the care team as appropriate.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in the WellSky app.
• Follow agency policies, nursing direction, and client-specific care plans.
• Communicate with the office regarding patient status, scheduling, and care concerns.

This role may be a good fit for nurses who enjoy one-on-one care, are comfortable working independently, and value support from an office and nursing team.

Schedule & Availability

PRN scheduling is based on current client needs and may include:

• Day visits
• Evening visits
• Overnight shifts
• Weekend availability
• Short skilled nursing visits
• Recurring case assignments when available

Schedules may vary based on client needs, nurse availability, location, and case requirements. Hours cannot be guaranteed.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Strong clinical judgment and observation skills
• Ability to work independently in a private home setting
• Valid Driver’s License
• Current Auto Insurance
• Reliable Transportation
• Current hands-on CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
• TB test, PPD, or lab screening within the required timeframe, or qualifying chest X-ray
