Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, IL seeks a PRN Phlebotomy Lab Support member to join our focused Laboratory team. Under supervision, you will perform routine tasks, collect and process specimens, and provide clerical support to ensure efficient testing.

Required is a High School diploma or GED (or 10 years of work experience) and BLS HCP certification. Phlebotomy experience is not mandatory, as training is provided where needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or 10 years of work experience) required.
• BLS HCP certification required.
• No prior phlebotomy experience required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers including answering phones and responding to inquiries.
• Collect, label, process and preserve blood, urine and other specimens.
• Enter, access and execute lab orders in the LIS/EMR system.
• Maintain clean and stocked lab work area.
• May perform phlebotomy and waived testing.
• Identify patients using two identifiers.
• Support administrative duties such as admissions, insurance verification and order entry.
• Adhere to safety protocols and perform other duties as assigned.
