Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy department under pharmacist supervision. The role encompasses inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, and medication histories.

Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and Indiana Pharmacy Technician licensure or training, plus certification within a year. Strong math, customer service, and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or ASHP/ACPE accredited program.
• Requires no criminal history related to drugs.
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills under supervision.
• Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Requires ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
• Requires basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, and medication histories.
• Assists with medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, and preparing medications for pharmacist check.
• Prepares medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery and maintains records and inventories.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions.
• Works with pharmacy staff to minimize medication errors.
