Job summary

Indiana University Health in Fort Wayne is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team in inventory, preparation, distribution, and compounding of medications. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Indiana Pharmacy Technician credentials or active training, and certification within a year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or ASHP/ACPE program.
• No criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills under supervision or defined procedures.
• Ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and execute customer services skills.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies.
• Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones and entering refill orders.
• Prepares medications for pharmacist check and for disbursement/shipment/delivery.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions.
• Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
• Maintains records and may deliver supplies and manage stocking.
