Job summary

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to provide flexible inpatient coverage across multiple Wake Region Hospital Medicine locations.

This part-time PRN role reports to the APP Manager. Schedules are developed quarterly to cover PTO, FMLA, illness, and census fluctuations; NC license, DEA, BLS, and board certification requirements apply. Shift incentives are provided for eligible shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current North Carolina NP/PA license.
• Prescriptive privileges and DEA registration.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced inpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial and follow-up medical histories and physical examinations.
• Conduct daily inpatient assessments and manage patient care.
• Admit, consult, and manage hospitalized adult medicine patients.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with supervising physicians.
• Order and interpret labs/imaging; manage diagnostics.
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice.
• Perform minor procedures as allowed by credentialing.
• Coordinate care across multidisciplinary teams and hospital locations.
• Document encounters in the electronic medical record.
• Promote patient safety and quality-of-care standards.
