Job summary

One GI in New Albany, IN is seeking a PRN Histology Technician to support the preparation of surgical GI specimens for microscopic examination in a collaborative laboratory.

You will gross and dissect specimens, process, embed, cut, and stain tissue, and maintain a clean, organized lab while adhering to HIPAA and PPE requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a BA/BS in Natural Science and ASCP HT or HTL certification, with strong attention to detail and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science or related field required.
• ASCP HT or HTL certification required.
• Experience handling gross tissue specimens with proper PPE.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; proficient with computers/EMR.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen grossing and dissection.
• Prepare body tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
• Process, embed, cut, and stain histology sections.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Monitor and organize laboratory supplies.
• Maintain patient and employer confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with physicians and fellow team members to support laboratory operations.
