Qualifications

• HT(ASCP) or eligible preferred is valued.
• Experience: 1 year in histology lab performing embedding and microtomy.

Responsibilities

• Gross and prepare tissue for routine microscopic analysis.
• Embedding and microtomy.
• Slide staining and coverslipping.
• Demonstrate knowledge of quality safety and compliance programs.
• Troubleshoot processor issues, stain optimization, microtome adjustments, coverslipper maintenance.
• Supply inventory management.

Edmunds Gastroenterology is currently looking for a team oriented part-time / PRN (as needed) Histology Technician. This candidate will be part of a dynamic team to support our large, privately owned specialty practice. Candidates must display strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills to ensure an effective lab environment. The candidate should possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and internal laboratory systems.

Job Type: Part Time/ PRN (as needed)

Responsibilities

• Gross and prepare tissue for routine microscopic analysis.
• Embedding & microtomy
• Slide staining & cover slipping
• Demonstrate knowledge of quality safety and compliance programs.
• Troubleshoot laboratory challenges: processor issues, stain optimization, microtome adjustments, coverslipper maintenance.
• Supply inventory

Requirements

Education:
Clinical education in a Histology Technician School (HT) program accredited by NAACLS or 1 year experience preferred.

Associates in a Laboratory Science or Bachelor of Science with minimal 24 combined chemistry and biology credits, per CLIA Guidelines

• 493.1489 for high complexity testing personnel required. College transcript verification is required.

Experience

1 year experience in a histology laboratory performing embedding and microtomy.

Licensure

HT(ASCP), HTL(ASCP) or eligible preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Abide by all HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA guidelines and laws.
• Keep annual training such as HIPAA and Bloodborne certificates up to date.
• Maintain routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and document appropriately.
• Follow proper procedure for disposal of laboratory waste.
