Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PRN, critical care role. The RN will deliver patient-centered care, perform assessments, administer medications, and educate patients and families on treatment plans while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale within timelines, and Cath Lab experience. This position supports high-quality outcomes in West Houston within a long-standing ethical health system.

Qualifications

• ACLS and Basic Life Support required or to be obtained within specified timelines
• NIH Stroke Scale required within 30 days of employment start date
• Cath Lab experience is required for this role

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift; report changes
• Monitor patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic responses
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care
• Coordinate with the care team to ensure timely, evidence-based care
• Oversee delegation and supervision of assistive staff as appropriate
• Support continuity of care by coordinating with community resources
