Job summary

PharMerica is hiring a PRN Pharmacist in Asheville, North Carolina. The role focuses on providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care for residents in long-term care settings, ensuring accurate medication orders, monitoring, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

The position requires a pharmacy degree, with Pharm D preferred, and at least one year in long-term care. Licensure as required by state and federal regulations is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy; Pharm D preferred.
• One year experience in long-term care.
• Licenses/Certifications: As required by government regulations and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, interactions, and administration; makes therapy recommendations.
• Maintains patient/resident database with medical history and current/past medications.
• Ensures monitoring laboratory tests for high-risk conditions are ordered and discussed with the healthcare team.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to provide clinical and technical support.
• Documents communications with physicians, nurses, and patients in the medical record.
• Implements policies for safe procurement, storage, distribution and disposal of drugs.
• Maintains required documentation per federal/state regulations.
• Informs Pharmacy Manager of medication-related errors.
• Assists staff with safe procurement, maintenance, administration and disposal of drugs.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
