The position serves as a critical link between the Private Equity Research team, Research Operations and the Client CIO team. This role is designed to ensure that private markets investment insights (across buyout, venture capital, growth equity, private real estate, co-investments, and secondaries) are clearly articulated, internally aligned, and efficiently implemented in client portfolios.

The position is internally focused. The Specialist will form the “first line” for inbound inquiries to the private markets research team from client-facing teams, responsible for working cross-functionally to identify and implement improvements to team deliverables. The role requires knowledge of private markets investing, a collaborative mindset across functions, strong data literacy, and the ability to synthesize complex strategies into clear internal messaging.

The Specialist will play a significant role in continued development of the firm’s private markets investment program. The Specialist is expected to develop a deep understanding of Partners Capital’s private markets investment philosophy, program structures, and portfolio construction frameworks, while contributing to the continuous improvement of internal communication, decision-making, and execution processes.

Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Act as a central point of coordination between Private Markets Research and Client CIO teams to support the efficient implementation of private market investment recommendations including transmission of feedback to the research team and addressing queries from clients and Client CIO team members
  • Provide first-line support for inbound inquiries to the Private Markets research team. Effectively query and synthesize data to support ad-hoc and/or recurring inquiries including compilation of track records and calculation of performance reporting standards (TWR, IRR, TVPI)
  • Collaboration with the Private Markets Reporting function to ensure fit-for-purpose and timely data, including liaising between research and data functions to close manager data gaps
  • Partner with research team members to translate investment considerations into clear, decision-ready materials for client consumption
  • Support Client CIOs with quantitative portfolio construction considerations, including pacing, diversification, liquidity profiles, and exposure management
  • Maintain ownership of exposure data in internal systems and obtain signoffs for updates where appropriate. Identify opportunities to improve and/or expand internal data sets and availability through additional fields or data sets
  • Prepare, update and review investment pipeline, commitments, exposure and track record data to support our private markets program, Board reporting, business development or other uses as needed with a high degree of accuracy and responsiveness
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials and portfolio reporting for use by clients, prospects or the business development team
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal workflows, documentation, and knowledge sharing related to private markets investments
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and developing a holistic understanding of the Firm’s investment and client service processes
Qualifications / Attributes
  • 4+ years of experience in private markets reporting, analytics, product strategy, portfolio management support, or a related role
  • Experience with S&P’s iLEVEL or similar private markets reporting platform. Understanding and ability to calculate IRR, multiples, quartiling and other fund-level quantitative assessments
  • Experience assessing embedded portfolio exposure and private company operating metrics preferred
  • Strong technical acumen, including advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets. Experience building or modifying analytical tools, models, or templates to support portfolio analysis and/or construction is a plus
  • Ability to interpret investment, exposure, and portfolio data and translate quantitative outputs into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders
  • Progress toward CFA, CAIA, or similar credentials preferred
