Job summary

POSITION: Adjunct Instructor of Music, Low Brass
Appointment begins August, 2026

Duties
  • Teach weekly private lessons and studio classes to tuba and euphonium students during the fall and spring semesters
  • Prepare students for juries, recitals and ensemble performances
  • Guide students to achieve proficiency within a multi-year developmental curriculum
  • Cultivate a supportive atmosphere and culture within the studio
  • Attend juries, auditions, and recitals to provide realistic student assessments
  • Participate in recruiting and outreach events, such as all-state workshops, Pioneer Honor Band Festival, Music Major for a Day, etc.
  • Recruit to serve the needs of a comprehensive music program with a wide range of ensemble offerings that include: Wind Symphony, University Band, Orchestra, Mariachi, Pep Band, Jazz Ensemble, and small chamber groups
  • Possibility of coaching student chamber ensembles, if needed
Requirements
  • Masters degree required, DMA preferred
  • Must possess knowledge and ability to teach standard tuba and euphonium repertoire
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, positive outlook, flexibility, desire to create a strong studio culture, and ability to recruit are essential
  • Private lesson teaching experience in DFW area public schools desirable
