A leading AM Law 200 firm is seeking a mid-to-senior level associate to join its private equity practice group in Chicago. Ideal candidates will have 4 to 8 years of experience and a strong background in M&A and private equity transactions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will represent middle-market private equity funds, independent sponsors, and family offices in leveraged buyouts, as well as advise family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in sell-side M&A transactions. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a lead associate on transactions and work closely with clients throughout the deal process.

Associates in this group are fully integrated into cross-office teams and benefit from a robust platform that combines the resources of a national firm with the collegial environment of a smaller office. The position includes structured training, active mentorship, and clear opportunities for career advancement, including business development support and leadership development.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• 4–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in both law firm and in-house settings
• Admission to the Illinois bar in good standing
• Strong communication, analytical, and business judgment skills
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in collaborative team settings
• Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. required

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: $233,500 – $335,000, commensurate with experience
