Job summary

Taurus Search is seeking an Associate to join its investment team, focusing on energy sector opportunities including power, renewables, and energy transition. You will be involved from initial assessment through execution, working with a small, engaged deal team and senior decision-makers.

You will develop investment theses, build financial models, conduct due diligence, and support structuring and execution while collaborating with portfolio teams and executives to identify growth opportunities.

Qualifications

We are working with an established middle-market investment firm looking to add an Associate to its investment team.

The strategy is centered on businesses benefiting from the continued transformation of the energy sector, with investments spanning power, renewable energy, energy transition and companies across the supporting industrial and services ecosystem.

The firm is entering an active period of deployment, with meaningful capital available to invest and a strong pipeline of opportunities. For an Associate, this creates the chance to join a small, highly engaged deal team where junior investors receive broad transaction exposure and work closely with senior decision-makers.

The Role

The successful candidate will be involved throughout the investment process, from the initial assessment of an opportunity through execution and subsequent ownership.

• Evaluating new investment opportunities and developing investment theses across the firm's target sectors


• Building and analyzing detailed financial models to assess returns, valuation, capital structure and transaction scenarios


• Participating in commercial, financial and operational due diligence


• Supporting transaction structuring, financing and execution


• Producing investment committee analysis and clearly articulating the key merits and risks of an opportunity


• Researching companies, subsectors and emerging themes across power and the broader energy transition landscape


• Working alongside portfolio company management teams and senior investors following an acquisition


• Supporting strategic initiatives, growth opportunities and additional M&A across existing investments

Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have approximately 1–3 years of experience within:

• Investment Banking


• Private Equity


• Infrastructure / Energy investing

Relevant sector exposure could include power, utilities, renewable energy, energy transition, infrastructure, energy services or adjacent industrial sectors.

Candidates should also demonstrate:

• Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities


• A solid understanding of transaction analysis and due diligence


• The ability to evaluate businesses from both a financial and commercial perspective


• Experience preparing high-quality analytical materials and presentations


• Strong written and verbal communication skills
  
• Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in investing across the evolving energy landscape


• The ability to perform effectively within a collaborative, entrepreneurial investment team
