Job summary

First Day Homecare in Columbus, OH is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide home health nursing services under an approved care plan, in compliance with the state Nurse Practice Act and agency policies.

The RN will base care on a comprehensive plan, communicate with physicians, and support family education. The role requires excellent communication, CPR, and a valid driver’s license for home visits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current RN license in the state of operation.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with state requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for professional nursing practice per state Nurse Practice Act and home health standards.
  • Performs client assessments and may conduct admissions/reassessments.
  • Supervises LPN/LVNs and HHAs as directed.
  • Reports changes in client condition to medical practitioner and care team.
  • Participates in developing client care plans.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to policies and payor/accreditation requirements.
  • Promotes safety and infection prevention, and quality improvement.
  • Delivers other duties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides services to clients in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, Agency policy, and accepted professional standards of practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing services utilizing a comprehensive base of nursing theory under the direction of a medically approved care plan.

REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor
PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: NA – No supervision responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of operation.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  1. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and standards for home health nursing.
  2. Performs physical assessments of clients. May complete comprehensive assessments for client admissions and reassessments at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
  3. Supervises Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
  4. Reports changes in client condition promptly to the medical practitioner overseeing care as well as to other members of the client’s care team.
  5. Participates in the development of the client care plan.
  6. Consistently demonstrates competency with technical nursing skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.
  7. Practices nursing with respect for individual, cultural, and spiritual differences.
  8. Follows Agency policies and procedures as well as payor and accreditation requirements.
  9. Initiates actions to improve the quality of client care and to prevent negative client outcomes. Continually promotes safety and infection prevention and control practices.
  10. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  11. Participates in ongoing, professional self-development.
  12. Delegates tasks to Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) based on their legal scope of practice and where circumstances require.
  13. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
