Job summary

First Day Homecare is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide home health services under the Nurse Practice Act and agency policies. You will implement care plans and monitor client progress in collaboration with the clinical team.

The role requires current RN licensure in the state and a BSN preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and the ability to supervise LPNs/LVNs and HHAs as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services per state Nurse Practice Act and agency policy.
  • Perform client assessments and contribute to care plans.
  • Supervise LPNs/LVNs and HHAs as directed by supervisor.
  • Report changes in client condition to medical practitioner and care team.
  • Participate in development of client care plans.
  • Demonstrate competency in technical nursing skills.
  • Respect individual, cultural, and spiritual differences.
  • Follow agency policies, payor and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote safety and infection control practices.
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Delegate tasks within scope of practice.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provides services to clients in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, Agency policy, and accepted professional standards of practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing services utilizing a comprehensive base of nursing theory under the direction of a medically approved care plan.

REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor

PROVIDES SUPERVISION TO: NA - No supervision responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of operation.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with state and/or

Agency requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  1. 1. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and standards for home health nursing.
  2. 2. Performs physical assessments of clients. May complete comprehensive assessments for client admissions and reassessments at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
  3. 3. Supervises Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.
  4. 4. Reports changes in client condition promptly to the medical practitioner overseeing care as well as to other members of the client’s care team.
  5. 5. Participates in the development of the client care plan.
  6. 6. Consistently demonstrates competency with technical nursing skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.
  7. 7. Practices nursing with respect for individual, cultural, and spiritual differences.
  8. 8. Follows Agency policies and procedures as well as payor and accreditation requirements.
  9. 9. Initiates actions to improve the quality of client care and to prevent negative client outcomes. Continually promotes safety and infection prevention and control practices.
  10. 10. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  11. 11. Participates in ongoing, professional self-development.
  12. 12. Delegates tasks to Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) based on their legal scope of practice and where circumstances require.
  13. 13. Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
