Job summary

Visiting Angels Lufkin seeks Private Duty Caregivers to support seniors in Deep East Texas. You will provide in-home care, assist with daily activities, and accompany clients to appointments while fostering independence and dignity.

Training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care is offered to grow your skills. Responsibilities include medication reminders, mobility assistance, personal care, and light housekeeping.

Qualifications

• Passion to serve others as a caregiver.
• Knowledge of emergency response and first aid.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medications.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility (transferring with hoyer lift or gait belt).
• Assist with personal care and hygiene (bathing and incontinence care).
• Help with routine exercises and mobility.
• Plan and prepare meals with client input.
• Shop for groceries or accompany to appointments.
• Perform light housekeeping as needed.
• Be a supportive companion and report incidents promptly.
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.

Private Duty Caregiver Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (Transferring assistance using hoyer lifts or gait belts or walkers and wheelchairs.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (Bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop (grocery shopping, salon, dr appointments)
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Private Duty Caregiver Requirements

• Passion to serve others - a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Experience with Bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience with Transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia
• 2 years professional experience with the elderly in a Facility or with an agency or have a CNA certification
