Job summary

Visiting Angels - Lufkin, TX is seeking a Private Duty Caregiver to provide compassionate in-home care to seniors in Deep East Texas. The role includes medication prompts, mobility assistance, personal care, meal prep, and companionship under a supportive team.

Requirements include CNA certification or substantial elder care experience, strong emergency and first aid knowledge, and a patient, respectful approach to dementia care and daily activities. Training opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Passion for serving others and compassionate patient care.
• Strong knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Experience with housekeeping and meal preparation.
• Familiarity with health and safety standards.
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care is a plus.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia.
• CNA certification preferred or equivalent experience in elder care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist with ambulation and mobility (transferring with hoyer lift, gait belt, or wheelchair).
• Assist with personal care and hygiene (bathing and incontinence care).
• Assist with routine exercises and mobility.
• Plan and prepare meals with client input.
• Shop for groceries or accompany clients to appointments.
• Perform light housekeeping and provide companionship.
• Report unusual incidents and emergencies promptly.

Private Duty Caregiver Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (Transferring assistance using hoyer lifts or gait belts or walkers and wheelchairs.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (Bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client's shopping or accompany them when they shop (grocery shopping, salon, dr appointments)
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can't complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Private Duty Caregiver Requirements

• Passion to serve others - a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Experience with Bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience with Transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics

• 2 years professional experience with the elderly in a Facility or with an agency or have a CNA certification
