Pocketbook Agency seeks a Traveling Private Chef based in New York for a full-time role with frequent travel to East and West Coast residences. You will manage meals for a discerning family, including 10–30 guests, while maintaining discretion across a dynamic kitchen.

• Serve plated, family-style, and buffet meals for 10–30 guests.
• Travel with the family to multiple residences and on trips.
• Maintain strict privacy and discretion at all times.

Job description

A confidential family is seeking a full-time, New York–based Traveling Private Chef to join its established culinary team. The kitchen operates year-round, the ideal candidate is flexible, collaborative, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

This role requires frequent travel between the family’s East and West Coast residences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and cook 2 meals per day and assist with prep for other meals, for a discerning family with various dietary restrictions
• Confident to run the kitchen on your own, with or without the Executive Chef onsite
• Plan menus with the culinary team and log them in the shared menu log
• Cook a global range cuisines and keep menus varied
• Capable to serve plated, family style, and buffet style-meals
• Comfortable to cook for daily meals and special occasions from 10-30 guests
• Travel with the family on vacations, work trips and to various residences
• Protect the family’s privacy and keep the highest levels of discretion

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior private chef experience in an ultra-high-net-worth household required
• Proven ability to run a kitchen on your own without supervision
• Strong experience with dietary restrictions, etc.
• Broad culinary range with a global palate
• Flexible mindset and open to feedback. Not rigid or ego-driven
• Calm under pressure and steady through long days and changing plans
• Team player who builds good relationships with chefs, nannies, and household staff
• Able to travel heavily, including long stretches
• Proven ability to regularly cook for parties between 10-30 people (with assistance from others on the culinary team when needed)

Location: NYC and the Hamptons with heavy travel

Compensation: Up to $180,000 DOE range plus comprehensive benefits package, PTO, etc.

Schedule: Full-time on a rolling 5 day schedule.
