Job summary

BD is seeking a Flexographic Printing Press Operator to support quality printing, mat setup, and material management in a GMP-controlled environment. The role requires printing press experience and adherence to safety and quality standards.

You will perform setup, maintenance, inventory control, and cross-department coordination to ensure efficient production. Responsibilities include quality checks, material handling, changeovers, and reporting production metrics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Printing press experience is required.
• Ability to follow GMP requirements and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check quality and correctness of printing mats, setting up and aligning mats.
• Inspect raw materials to ensure correct web stock and ink.
• Operate the printing press to deliver high quality products.
• Perform cleanup and preventive maintenance per manuals and QA requirements.
• Complete material transfers between departments and maintain inventories.
• Maintain a clean work area to meet GMP requirements.
• Report safety hazards to supervision immediately.
• Support other duties as needed.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Flexographic Printing Press Operator:

• Checking quality and correctness of printing mats, properly setting up, aligning, and affixing printing mats to printing sleeves or mandrel.

• Inspecting the raw materials to ensure the correct web stock and ink are being used for top webs to be processed.

• Placing roll of web material stock on press and checking web material for correctness.

• Operating the printing press in such a manner as to process a high quality product.

• Performing cleanup and preventative maintenance of printing and slitting equipment in accordance with equipment manuals and Quality Control requirements.

• Making repairs on printing and slitting equipment and assisting Tool Room or Maintenance on major repairs.

• Performing inventory control and recording of printing inks, printing mats and paper stock used in the printing of web materials.

• Performing internal scheduling of web material to be processed to maintain an efficient operation with minimum of down time for all changeovers.

• Completing all material transfers between departments.

• Maintaining a proper inventory of spare parts for quick change on the press.

• Setting up and processing web materials on web label slitting equipment as necessary.

• Maintaining a clean work area to meet GMP requirements.

• Reporting any safety hazards to supervision immediately.

• Reporting production and waste according to the latest accounting methods.

• Maintaining quality of all product and completing quality inspection sheets required by current BD Medical Procedural Solutions business unit.

• Performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties employing all standard safety practices as detailed in forklift operator training course.

• Uses proper lifting equipment for safe handling of materials and performs daily safety check of powered equipment as required.

• Complies with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.

• Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.

• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

• Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.
