Job description

Location: Clarksville, TN

Shift: 12 hrs Crewing/Night Shift

Being a skilled Printing Press Operator is more than a job, it is an art form!

If you are an experienced sheet-fed press operator capable of operating KBA, Komori, and/or Heidelberg presses, apply now!

As our Press Operator, you will be:

  1. Responsible for operating printing presses such as KBA, Heidelberg XL, Anicolor, Komori, and other specialized equipment to create quality printed pages for Yearbook and Commercial printing products.
  2. Responsible for the set-up, operation and basic maintenance of the presses within department Quality and Productivity standards. This operator ensures that paper and ink meet specifications and makes adjustments to the Press to maintain specific registration and color density.
  3. Responsible for the inspection of printed product for imperfections and maintains communication with department supervisor regarding any issues. Ensures the proper loading of paper and plates and makes prompt corrections. Efficiently leads the work area promoting safety and a healthy work environment.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or GED required.
  • At least 4 years of experience operating a Press that prints pages for the manufacture of Books, Yearbooks or Commercial printing jobs.
  • Heidelberg Speedmaster or KBA Sheetfed Press Operator experience is required.
  • Mechanical ability and able to set up the press to run without assistance, as well as proper preventive maintenance of the machine.
  • Knowledgeable in the use and application of different types of paper and inks.
  • Must be prepared to pass a Color Aptitude test (if requested).
  • Ability to work with Mental/Visual Demands – Continuous mental and vision attention, requiring constant alertness, activity and shade/color variance determinations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and move around constantly.
  • Works well under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task & keep up with required paperwork.
  • Must be team minded and positive in all interactions with employees at every level.
  • Must be able to train press helpers and apprentices.
  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Need to be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a self-starter with demonstrated decision-making ability.
  • Must possess good attendance and performance record.
  • Ability to work standing/walking through a 12 hours shift.
  • Complies with all safety and operations procedures.
