Job summary

Polytainers in Missouri is seeking a Machine Operator / Press Operator to join the Printing Department. You will operate a printing press, pack/unpack rigid plastic containers, and support setup and maintenance tasks on a fast-paced shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Tear down and maintenance of printing presses, including line clearance and plate replacement.

• Update job cards and daily scheduling boards.
• Follow safety policies and 5S, HACCP, and health and safety rules.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator in the Printing Department is responsible for operating a printing press and packing / unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids. A fully qualified Press Operator will be skilled in the following key responsibilities areas however may only be required to perform one or more of the responsibilities at a given time.

Position Responsibilities

Tear Down of Printing Presses

• Perform job kit verification
• Line Clearance
• Replace plates
• Wash and prepare colour heads

Run All Lid and Base Presses

• Includes all six and eight colour presses
• Pack / Unpack boxes according to customer requirements
• Take trending tray samples
• Apply labels and stamp every box without pre-labeling
• Cover other machines for lunch and breaks

Monitor Product Quality

• Visually inspects product at the packing station
• Maintain trending tray

Perform Product Control Duties

• Update job cards
• Enter information on Daily Machine Scheduling and Attainment Board (White Board)

Skills / Experience Required

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work with constant exposure to moving machinery and noise. The physical requirements include movements of a repetitious and unchanging nature.

Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills

Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team
