Polytainers in Lee's Summit, MO, is seeking a Machine Operator in the Printing Department to operate printing presses and assist with packing/unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids, while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple presses (six- and eight-colour). The Continental Rotating Days shift runs 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a focus on efficient production.

Qualifications

• No formal education required, but proficiency in operating printing presses is essential.
• Must be able to work in a noisy, air-conditioned production environment.
• Fluent English verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Tear down printing presses: verify job kit, line clearance, replace plates, wash colour heads.
• Run lid and base presses: operate six- and eight-colour presses, pack/unpack boxes per customer requirements, take samples, apply labels, cover machines during breaks.
• Monitor product quality: visually inspect at packing, maintain trending tray.
• Perform product control duties: update job cards, enter information on Daily Machine Scheduling and Attainment Board.
• Adhere to company policies: never compromise safety, treat teammates with respect, follow 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator in the Printing Department is responsible for operating a printing press and packing / unpacking rigid plastic containers and lids. A fully qualified Press Operator will be skilled in the following key responsibilities areas however may only be required to perform one or more of the responsibilities at a given time.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Tear Down of Printing Presses

• Perform job kit verification
• Line Clearance
• Replace plates
• Wash and prepare colour heads

Run All Lid and Base Presses

• Includes all six and eight colour presses
• Pack / Unpack boxes according to customer requirements
• Take trending tray samples
• Apply labels and stamp every box without pre-labeling
• Cover other machines for lunch and breaks

Monitor Product Quality

• Visually inspects product at the packing station
• Maintain trending tray

Perform Product Control Duties

• Update job cards
• Enter information on Daily Machine Scheduling and Attainment Board (White Board)

Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures

• Never compromise safety
• Treat fellow Team Members with honesty, respect and dignity
• Meet standards of conduct
• Adhere to 5S, HACCP and Health and Safety rules

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Educational Requirements: None

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work with constant exposure to moving machinery and noise. The physical requirements include movements of a repetitious and unchanging nature.

Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills

Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team. Machine operation skills required. Dry offset printing experience is an asset.
