Print Services-Student Worker

Purpose/Objective of the Role:
Supports the daily operations of Print Services by assisting with print production, finishing, inventory, customer service, and administrative tasks to ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Operate print and finishing equipment under supervision.
- Prepare, finish, package, and organize printed materials.
- Check print jobs for accuracy and quality.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving supplies.
- Support basic billing, recordkeeping, and expense tracking.
- Provide customer service and assist with print job requests and pickups.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Print Services Manager.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some prior experience in a print shop or reprographics environment is a plus.
- Basic proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office: Excel for simple spreadsheets, Word, etc).
- Working knowledge or willingness to learn printing equipment, finishing tools, bindery equipment.
Strong attention to detail and quality:
- Ability to proof jobs for errors, ensure accurate output.
- Good organizational skills; ability to track supplies, record transactions, handle basic paperwork.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills: comfortable working with internal customers (faculty, staff, students) and vendors.
- Ability to lift, carry and move boxes or stacks of paper (often 25-50 lbs) and stand for extended periods in a production environment.
- Ability to multitask, work under deadline, and adapt as print jobs and production needs change.
- Professional communication - Gain experience interacting with customers, coworkers, vendors, and supervisors.
- Customer service - Develop skills in understanding customer needs, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Time management & organization - Learn to prioritize multiple jobs, meet deadlines, and manage materials.
- Attention to detail - Build accuracy and quality-control skills when reviewing print jobs and specifications.
- Technology & equipment skills - Gain hands-on experience operating specialized production equipment and learning new technologies.
- Business & financial skills - Develop exposure to purchasing, invoicing, job costing, budgeting, and expense tracking.
- Inventory & operations management - Learn how supplies, orders, deliveries, and production workflows are managed.
