Job summary

Nokia is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer for its Optical Networks division, focusing on maintaining and improving critical lithography and metrology tools in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining wafer fabrication equipment, writing procedures, mentoring technicians, and ensuring ISO compliance. Strong hands-on capability with ASML Tel systems and an engineering background are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS degree or equivalent; MS or BS in a related engineering field with hands-on equipment focus.
  • 15+ years in a manufacturing environment as an equipment engineer.
  • Expertise in vacuum systems, RF, mechanical design, electrical troubleshooting, and data handling.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs; strong hands-on experience with ASML Tel systems is a plus.
  • Justifying upgrades in wafer-contact areas.

Responsibilities

  • Tool ownership and improvement related to uptime; partner with engineers and operations staff.
  • Identify significant contributors to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum or RF system stability and provide solutions.
  • Create written operational procedures and mentor/train operators, chemical technicians and maintenance technicians.
  • Equipment installs, preventive maintenance, and repair of wafer fabrication equipment including plasma etchers and metal deposition tools.
  • Write preventive maintenance procedures and OCAP as needed.
  • Publish weekly progress reports.
  • Follow safety guidelines and cleanroom procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Tool ownership and improvement related to tool uptime (MTBF/MTTR) and quality. Will partner with other equipment/process engineers and operations staff to maintain uptime at key functional areas and identifying human‑machine interface issues and providing solutions.
  • Expected to identify significant contributors to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, RF or hydraulic system stability, and provide solutions which improve uptime or performance of Photolithography/Metrology tool sets. Experience Photolithography process tools is a must.
  • Expected to create written operational procedures and mentor/train operators, chemical technicians and maintenance technicians.
  • Responsibilities include tool installs partnership with facilities/vendors, preventive maintenance, and repair of wafer fabrication equipment, including plasma etchers, metal deposition tools.
  • Create troubleshooting guides specifically for repeated root cause diseases.
  • Routine review all equipment check-sheets to assure accuracy to meet ISO TL9K & 14001 audit requirements.
  • Responsible for sustaining and improving tool uptime in a 24x7 manufacturing/development facility. Occasionally required to work on off‑shifts and on weekends for tool installs, sustaining, troubleshooting and training.
  • Help to establish min/max parts estimates and adjusts inventory requirements based on manufacturing demand.
  • Desired skills include understanding of statistical process control, Microsoft Office, and the ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, etc.
  • Implements desirable modifications in procedures, methods and processes within the area or responsibility. Estimates requirements and take action accordingly.
  • Must be fully involved with equipment installs, qualification-base line and deinstallation as needed.
  • Write Preventive maintenance procedures and OCAP as needed.
  • Publishes weekly progress reports.
  • Performs job functions at high level with practically no supervision.
  • Strong hands on experience with ASML 5500 200 Steppers and Tel ACT8 Coat/develop and std Semiconductor.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and working with hazardous materials is required (LOTO, high voltage, acids, solvents, PPE, MSDS, etc. History of overnight coverage as needed preferred).
  • Publish Daily Power Point Equipment Updates during the daily manufacturing meetings as needed.
  • Some familiarity in other process areas helpful.
  • Must be safety oriented, follow all safety guidelines and all cleanroom procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum BS Degree or equivalent working experience. MS or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a related field with a hands‑on focus upon equipment a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 Years in manufacturing environment and hands on experience as an equipment engineer.
  • Area of expertise must include: vacuum systems, RF, mechanical design, electrical troubleshooting, data collection and manipulation, visual basic programming or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with ASML TEl systems a plus.
  • Justifying upgrades inside areas/chambers that come in contact with the wafer.
