Job summary

Nexus Semiconductor Recruitment is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support a 200mm semiconductor manufacturing site. You will manage installation, upgrades, maintenance, and reliability programs to improve tool stability and uptime across manufacturing lines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and at least three years in equipment engineering for semiconductor processes. Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • At least three years of experience as an Equipment Engineer in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience with Thin Films, Plasma Etch, Wet Chemistry, or Diffusion preferred.
  • Experience with OEMs such as AMAT, LAM, Novellus, TEL, ASML, Kokusai, Akrion, or Axcelis preferred.
  • Experience with tool monitoring, maintenance, and documentation.
  • Ability to own Tool Stability Performance (Availability, Failure Rate, Scrap, Cost).
  • Knowledge of semiconductor cleanroom protocols and SPC techniques.

Job description

As an Equipment Engineer, you will support semiconductor manufacturing equipment across installation, modification, upgrades, maintenance, performance, reliability, and uptime. You will provide technical support to equipment repair and process engineering teams, define preventive maintenance schedules, and own improvements affecting tool stability, availability, failure rate, scrap, and cost.

You will join a global semiconductor company that designs, manufactures, and sells analog and embedded processing chips for industrial, automotive, data center, personal electronics, and communications markets. The manufacturing site is a 200mm facility investing in automation, robotics, new product introduction, and AI/ML capabilities.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Evaluate, select, and order cost-effective equipment for semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Oversee equipment installation, modification, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Monitor equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades, and safety issues.
  • Study equipment performance and reliability to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Establish solutions that increase uptime and resolve manufacturing equipment problems.
  • Provide technical support to equipment repair and process engineering organizations.
  • Define and write preventive maintenance schedules.
Key requirements / What we look for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience as an Equipment Engineer in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience with Thin Films, Plasma Etch, Wet Chemistry, or Diffusion is preferred.
  • Equipment experience with OEMs such as AMAT, LAM, Novellus, TEL, ASML, Kokusai, Akrion, or Axcelis is preferred.
  • Experience with tool monitoring and interdiction software, equipment maintenance, and documentation.
  • Ability to own Tool Stability Performance, including Availability, Failure Rate, Scrap, and Cost.
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and SPC techniques.
  • Experience following semiconductor cleanroom protocols and behaviors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, take initiative, drive results, manage time, and deliver projects on schedule.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interrupt-driven, fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships.
