Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Texas is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to support maintenance and facilities operations on production sites.

You will perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and other repairs, documenting activities and upholding safety standards. The role requires strong troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and ability to collaborate with a planner/scheduler.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years in general maintenance or facility maintenance.
• Experience with lift equipment, forklifts and material handling.
• Strong troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting and HVAC repairs.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
• Conduct preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance on facilities and systems.
• Document maintenance activities and close work orders promptly.

Working in a team environment is critical and providing direction to others with different cultural and technical backgrounds is necessary for success.This position directly reports to the Facility Operations and Planning Manager.What you will do:Use hand and power tools as well as other equipment to perform carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, painting, HVAC and other repairs and maintenance.Knowledge in the use and application of complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.Perform regular preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facility and production equipment and systems.Adheres to established industry and enterprise standards, policies and practices relating to safety, quality, schedule, cost, accounting, purchasing and regulatory compliance in performing assigned duties.Participate in the implementation of Continuous Improvements (CI) projects, space planning projects and capital projects.Possess skills in more complex areas such as welding/soldering, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and preventative maintenance operations.Willing to train less experienced technicians.Accurately document maintenance activities and complete work orders in a timely manner.Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.Conducts and completes on-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development.What you will have:10+ years of experience in general maintenance or facility maintenance.Working knowledge of maintenance lift equipment, forklifts, and material handling equipment.Respond to service requests with little or no supervision and direction without interrupting operations.Understanding of lockout / tagout procedures.Knowledgeable of in all aspects of HVAC operation, maintenance, and system components.Knowledgeable in all aspects of cutting, grinding, welding, and fabrication.Proven troubleshooting skills encompassing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.Working understanding and knowledge of Oil/water separator systems and maintenance.Work with Planner / Scheduler to optimize preventative maintenance procedures and document maintenance activities.Working knowledge of electricity and electrical systems (AC/DC systems, relays, switches, fuses, breakers, motors)Team player with passion for customer service, problem solving, learning and continuous improvement.Maintain a safe work environment by documenting and correcting potential safety issues and complying with all safety regulations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Working knowledge of MS Office Applications.What will set you apart:Deep understanding and expertise in specific fields of facilities and maintenance such as plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, & air conditioning), and/or maintenance of building infrastructures.Proficient in safely handling voltages ranging from 4 – 20 milliamps up to 600 volts AC, along with expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing electric motors and components.Familiarity with modern construction, building codes and practices.Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and building drawings and schematics.Identify, specify, source and order supplies and equipment.Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) systems.Working knowledge of Building Management system software (Web Control).Summary Pay Range:$65,454.00 - $98,182.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
