GE Appliances, a Haier company, is seeking an experienced Principal Manufacturing Welding Engineer in Camden, SC, to lead automated welding process startup, stabilization, and continuous improvement for water heater tanks.

You will own welding standards, parameter control, and problem-solving, partnering across Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Engineering to improve weld integrity, first-pass yield, and cost.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or associate’s degree plus significant automated welding engineering experience).
• 7+ years of experience in metal fabrication and welding engineering in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Mansioni

• Lead development and optimization of MIG and resistance projection welding processes, including weld parameters, joint fit-up, fixtures, tooling, consumables, and process repeatability.
• Establish and document approved process windows, setup standards, weld schedules, and parameter change controls; coordinate qualification and validation with Quality and Manufacturing.
• Lead investigation of weld defects, tank leaks, and recurring welding losses; perform root cause analysis and trials to verify corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot robotic welding applications with Controls and Maintenance; coordinate specialist and supplier support as needed.
• Own welding-related FMEA/MCP linkage; define critical process characteristics, monitoring methods, and escalation requirements.
• Partner with Quality to establish weld inspection and testing methods, acceptance criteria, and measurement capability; use SPC to detect variation.
• Lead welding-related changes through Change Control; assess risk and validate changes before production release.
• Support new product introductions, equipment specs, supplier reviews, installation, and acceptance trials.

Formazione

Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Associate’s degree + significant automated welding engineering experience
