Job summary

Workiva is seeking a Principal Experience Designer to shape Unify, our enterprise design system, and to lead its visual language and tokens across products. You will balance system-level design with high-visibility visual work for conferences and executive audiences in a globally distributed setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in product/visual UX design, with enterprise or platform products.
• Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field (or 8 years experience and a Master's; or PhD with 6 years).

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve Unify’s visual language across typography, color, spacing, iconography, motion, and brand expression.
• Partner with components, patterns and templates teams to ensure consistent visual design across assets.
• Collaborate with product design, product mgmt and engineering to translate design decisions into production.
• Maintain scalable, semantic token architecture for consistent experiences across products and time.
• Create and maintain a library of reference designs and full-screen examples for real product experiences.
• Own visual usage guidance and documentation for designers, engineers, and AI workflows.
• Evaluate AI-generated designs and prototypes to strengthen tokens and guidance.
• Lead visual design for high-stakes moments: conferences, executive presentations, partnerships.
• Coach designers and influence cross-functional partners with strong visual storytelling.
