Cengage Group is seeking a Principal UX Designer to shape and elevate our web and digital experience through strong product thinking, design craft, and systems thinking. You will define Web experience across complex systems and translate business needs into scalable solutions.

You will partner with Marketing, Product and Engineering to influence priorities and ensure our work delivers meaningful value to users and the business.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of UX, Web Strategy, and product design experience.
• Strong portfolio with end-to-end web design and measurable business impact.
• Ability to influence cross-functional partners and shape roadmaps through design leadership.
• Data, analytics, and user research-informed decision making.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.
• Frontend development experience and collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Web experience strategy across key product areas, shaping direction and guiding high-impact decisions.
• Translate complex business, marketing and product requirements into clear, scalable user experiences.
• Use data, research, and experimentation to inform decisions and continuously improve experiences.
• Apply AI and modern tools to accelerate and reimagine design and build processes.
• Lead end-to-end design work from discovery through delivery with quality and cohesion.
• Work at strategic and executional levels, contributing hands-on design while guiding direction.
• Influence cross-functional partners and leadership with clear rationale and tradeoffs.
• Build and scale experimentation programs with hypothesis, metrics and A/B/multivariate tests.
